Plumbing Marketing: Get More Plumbing Jobs Booked
Plumbing marketing is different from other trades because half the work is an emergency. The homeowner is standing in water. They call three plumbers and hire whoever answers first, so speed beats cleverness every time.

Why plumbing marketing is not like the other trades
A roof can wait a week. A burst pipe cannot. That single fact changes everything about plumbing marketing, because your buyer is not comparing quotes, they are looking for somebody who picks up right now.
So the usual advice gets reordered. Brand matters less. Being findable in the first three results matters more, since 88% of local mobile searches end there. And answering, or texting back within 30 seconds, matters most of all.
Emergency work and scheduled work are two businesses
Treat them separately, because they behave differently. Emergency calls are urgency driven, low price sensitivity, won on availability. Scheduled work, water heater replacement, repipes, bathroom remodels, is researched, compared and won on trust and reviews.
That means separate pages on your site and different expectations. An emergency page needs your phone number enormous and above everything. A water heater page can afford to explain, show photos and answer questions.
The call you already lost today
67% of callers will not leave a voicemail. In this trade that figure bites harder than anywhere else, because the person calling has water on the floor and no patience. They hang up and dial the next plumber, and you never learn it happened.
You are under a sink. You cannot answer. So the fix is automatic: a text back within 30 seconds saying you got the call and when you can be there. That recovers up to 80% of those jobs and costs nothing per lead, because these people already found you.
The four things to fix, in order
Do these before you spend a dollar on advertising.
- Missed call text back. Cheapest win available and it works the first week.
- Site speed under 2 seconds. The average is 6 to 8. Somebody standing in a flooded kitchen will not wait.
- Google Business Profile, completely filled in. Expect around 3.5 times more calls after 90 days of proper work.
- Reviews arriving automatically. Roughly 47 a year without chasing anybody, and they feed straight back into ranking.
What Google weighs when somebody types plumber near me
Three things: Proximity, how close you are. Relevance, how well your pages match the search. Prominence, your reviews, citations and links. You cannot move your van closer to every customer, so plumbing marketing is the work of winning the other two.
It also means there is no single ranking position. It is a geo grid. You can own one suburb and be invisible three miles away, which is usually where the easiest growth is hiding.
Pages that win plumbing searches
One page per job type, not one page listing everything. Drain cleaning. Water heater repair. Water heater replacement. Repiping. Leak detection. Sewer line. Emergency plumber. Then a page for each town you genuinely serve.
Write the town pages about the town. Old cast iron in the older neighbourhoods, hard water where it is a real problem, freezing risk if your winters do that. A templated page with the name swapped in fools nobody, least of all Google.
When this is the wrong spend
Honestly, plumbing marketing is the wrong purchase if you are already turning work away. Extra calls into a full schedule create missed appointments and one star reviews about the plumber who never showed. Hire first, then market.
Same if your after hours calls go nowhere. Emergency demand arrives at night and on Sundays. Paying to be found at 2am while nobody answers at 2am is the most expensive mistake in this trade.
Built once, running every day
JR Grow installs the whole thing: a fast site with a page for each job and each town, Google profile work until you hold the local three pack, missed call text back in 30 seconds, and a review engine that runs itself. One flat monthly price, no contract, cancel anytime, live in 7 to 10 days.
Over 100 contractors, 4.9 star average. Not an agency and not software you have to figure out. Roman built it with his partner Jarda for people who actually do the work.
Key terms
Speed to lead: How fast you respond after somebody contacts you. In plumbing it usually decides the job, because the caller is mid emergency.
Map pack: The three local businesses Google shows above the regular results, where most plumbing searches begin.
Proximity: How close your business is to the person searching. One of the three things Google ranks local businesses on, and the one you cannot change.
Missed call text back: An automatic text sent within 30 seconds of a call you could not answer, recovering up to 80% of those jobs.

What is the fastest way to get more plumbing jobs?
Catch the calls you already miss. Two thirds of callers will not leave a voicemail, and an automatic text back within 30 seconds recovers up to 80% of those jobs. It works in the first week because these are people who already chose you, unlike advertising which has to find new people first.
How much should a plumber spend on marketing?
Work it out from cost per booked job rather than a fixed percentage. Take your average job value and your close rate, then make sure the total monthly cost sits well under the profit it produces. A working system in a typical trade market returns 12 to 20 times what goes into it.
Do plumbers need Google Ads?
Not to start. The map pack and organic results are where most plumbing searches end, and they keep working when you stop paying. Local Services Ads are worth testing once the basics are in place, particularly for emergency work where being top of the page at 2am has real value.
How do I rank for emergency plumber searches?
Give emergency work its own page with the phone number above everything, make the site load under 2 seconds, keep your Google Business Profile hours accurate including after hours, and gather reviews continuously. Emergency searches reward availability and proximity more than anything else.
Should I have separate pages for each plumbing service?
Yes. Google cannot rank one page first for eight different searches. A page for drain cleaning, one for water heater replacement, one for repiping and so on will each rank for their own search, where a single Services page ranks well for none of them.
